Randy D. Trumbower

Dr. Randy Trumbower is an Associate Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and the Director of the INSPIRE Lab for Sensorimotor Rehabilitation Engineering at Harvard Medical School. He received a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1997, a master’s degree in physical therapy from Duke University in 1999, and a master’s and a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from UConn in 2002 and 2005, respectively.

Dr. Trumbower has been active in the healthcare industry for the past 18 years, and his research interests have focused on improving the physical abilities of people who have suffered strokes and spinal cord injuries. His work is nationally and internationally recognized and is routinely funded by the Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Trumbower has been honored with the Emerging Leader Award from the American Physical Therapy Association, The Susan Baskin Award for Excellence in Research from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and the Ruth L. Kirchstein National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health, among others.

He is on the Education Board at the American Health Council and is a member of both the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Society of Neurorehabilitation.
