Dominic Kruszewski (B.S. ‘14, M.S. ‘16, Ph.D. ‘18) earned his B.S. in civil engineering and his M.S. and Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Connecticut. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Kruszewski’s role as the President and captain of the Concrete Canoe Club and UConn Crew team taught him teamwork, discipline and resilience while also applying engineering principles in a fun and competitive environment. Kruszewski’s time at UConn played a huge role in shaping who he is today, fostering personal values while also creating a professional foundation to propel his career as an engineer.
After graduating from UConn, Kruszewski began his professional engineering career in the consulting sector as a bridge engineer. He was fortunate to work on several marquee projects including the George Washington Bridge, the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the Robert Kennedy Bridge, and the Newark Bay Bridge (amongst others). In addition, Kruszewski works as an adjunct professor at the New York City College of Technology, teaching several courses and serving as a Peer Led Teaching program liaison. In 2025, Kruszewski earned the ACEC Young Professional of the Year award in New York state. He currently serves as the Chair of the ASCE Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Metropolitan Section, an organizing committee member for the International Interactive UHPC Symposium, and a judge for the ASCE Northeast Concrete Canoe competition.
