Mark D. Poliks
B.S., Chemistry and Mathematics, University of Massachusetts Lowell (‘82)
M.S., Materials Science and Engineering, University of Connecticut (‘84)
Ph.D., Materials Science and Engineering, University of Connecticut (‘87)
Dr. Mark D. Poliks earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from The University of Connecticut in 1984 and 1987, respectively. He is a SUNY Distinguished Professor and Empire Innovation Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Systems Science and Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University, State University of New York.
He is the founding director of the Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM), a New York State Center of Advanced Technology and home to the New York Node of the federally supported NextFlex Manufacturing USA. CAMM was established in 2006, with funding from the United States Display Consortium (USDC) and the Army Research Lab, as the first research center to explore the application of roll-to-roll processing methods, including large-area photolithography.
A recipient of the 2017 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research, Poliks has made sustained contributions to the fields of materials processing, electronics packaging, flexible, hybrid and additive electronics that are relevant to a variety of medical and industrial applications. He has received over $90M in federal and state funding that has enabled a large portfolio of collaborative research between his lab at Binghamton University with corporate and government partners. Poliks is a Fellow of NextFlex, an elected member of the IEEE Electronics Packaging Society (EPS) Board of Governors and is an IEEE-EPS Distinguished Lecturer.
