Rojaun Samuda

Rojaun Samuda earned his B.S. in computer science from the University of Connecticut in 2022 and has since established himself as a dynamic force in the technology industry and his community. A Jamaican-born immigrant, Samuda brings a deep passion for anthropology and human connection to every facet of his career, believing that understanding people is the foundation of meaningful technology.

At The Cigna Group, Samuda serves as a software engineer leading an engineering team spearheading digital transformation through automation. He has become a primary liaison between Cigna and UConn, representing the company at career fairs, speaking at student organizations, and facilitating nationwide recruiting through the TECDP Program. He also meets regularly with Cigna Scholars, continuing to mentor them throughout their time at UConn.

Samuda’s dedication to community is reflected in both his professional and personal pursuits. He remains actively involved with the Schola2rs House Learning Community, was invited to present at UConn’s Black Excellence Summit, and was honored as a keynote speaker at the VII End of Year Celebration, where he received the “Lift as You Climb” award. Through the Girls for Technology organization and as a brand ambassador for After Hours: The Cultural Linkup, he creates spaces for young professionals across Connecticut to build authentic relationships and networks.

Samuda believes technology should empower people to realize and embrace their own identity, a principle that guides everything he does.
