Swetaprovo Chaudhuri

Dr. Swetaprovo Chaudhuri is an expert in turbulent reacting flows and propulsion, internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to turbulent flame stabilization, propagation, and structure through experiments, theory, and computation. He is currently a Professor at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies.

Chaudhuri earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut in 2010 under the supervision of Professor Baki M. Cetegen, followed by a postdoctoral appointment at Princeton University. He served as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru before joining the University of Toronto as a tenured Associate Professor in 2019.

Chaudhuri has authored or coauthored more than forty publications in leading journals, conference proceedings, and books, and has received honors from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the University of Connecticut, the Indian National Science Academy, the Indian Academy of Sciences, and the University of Toronto. He is an elected Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and serves on its Propellants and Combustion Technical Committee. He also serves as a Colloquium Co Coordinator at the International Symposium on Combustion and has served as a member of Ontario’s COVID 19 Modeling Consensus Table. He works in close partnership with Pratt & Whitney Canada, Siemens Energy Canada, and numerous academic institutions worldwide.
