Daniel G. Goberman


Daniel Goberman is senior technical fellow for Materials Characterization at RTX Technologies Research Center in East Hartford, Conn.  His areas of expertise include surface analysis and failure analysis.  His current position is the culmination of 16 years at the Research Center, preceded by 18 years at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn.

Goberman completed a B.S. degree in Physics, a M.S. degree Material Science and Engineering and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, as well as his post-doctoral studies, and held research assistant positions. When he joined the Research Center in 2008, he was able to continue teaching as an adjunct faculty member at UConn, maintaining a continuous association with the University for 34 years.

At the Research Center, he applied his expertise in materials characterization to solve more than a thousand materials issues.  These efforts spanned product failures and development issues from across the varied RTX businesses, as well as advanced materials research from within the Research Center.  The experience gained in these efforts directly related to his teaching at UConn and his goals of educating and informing engineers across RTX.

Goberman is married; he and his wife have two daughters, as well as horses, birds and a dog. He enjoys karaoke, photography, hiking, running and traveling.
