Haley Palmer
Haley Palmer’s commitment to UConn’s School of Engineering began as a student in 2015, when she served as an engineering ambassador, a member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and president of the Engineering Student Leadership Council. While at UConn, she also was a member of ASCE, and was inducted to the Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon Honor Societies. She graduated magna cum laude in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a minor in environmental engineering, and a minor in construction management.
After graduating from UConn, Haley completed a master’s degree in construction management from Purdue. She has worked at The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in New Haven, Conn., since 2019, and was recently promoted to project manager. Her construction career has been focused on projects at higher-education institutions, and has included historical restoration, code upgrades, and dorm and lab renovations for Yale University and the Yale School of Medicine.
Haley has successfully recruited women and minorities to join Whiting-Turner. She also is Whiting-Turner’s liaison for the UConn SWE chapter. Her position as the company’s Northeast Diversity Leadership Coordinator for SWE, NSBE, and SHPE exemplifies her continued commitment to all marginalized groups. She also served on Whiting-Turner’s national committee for Community Engagement, under their Diversity and Inclusion Council. Beyond UConn, Haley is actively involved in the Connecticut chapter of Professional Women in Construction, and serves on their scholarship and mentorship committees.
