Kevin McMullen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York. McMullen received his B.S. (’15) and his Ph.D. (’19) from UConn. At UConn, he worked with Dr. Arash Zaghi and Dr. Kay Wille on a research project sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Transportation to develop an innovative repair for corroded steel bridge girders with Ultra-High Performance Concrete. McMullen’s research was recognized by the Transportation Research Board as a Sweet 16 High Valued Research Project and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) with the Raymond C. Reese Research Prize for outstanding contributions to structural engineering. McMullen was also part of the UConn Engineering Entrepreneurship program and received the Third Bridge Grant from Connecticut Innovations to form a start-up company, NexGen Infrastructure, LLC.

At USMA, McMullen is dedicated to delivering a high-quality educational experience for his cadets and developing them as leaders of character. His research focus has switched to the design and analysis of protective structures for the US Army and the advancement of engineering education. He has been recognized by ASCE with the Edmund Friedman Young Engineering Award for significant contributions to the civil engineering profession by younger members and the Excellence in Civil Engineering Education Teaching Award. McMullen also serves as a faculty advisor for the Army Club Water Polo Team, the ASCE Student Chapter, and the Steel Bridge Team.
