Millenia Polanco

Millenia Polanco received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut in 2022. She is a software engineer for American Express, in their Enterprise Data Governance and Artificial Intelligence Department.

While studying at UConn, Polanco contributed to research initiatives exploring osteoporosis, environmental injustice, COVID-19 campus testing compliance, and ultrasound imaging. Her keen interest in education, research and health led her to acquire additional computational experience from Memorial Sloan Kettering, Travelers Insurance and Google.  Throughout her collegiate career, she also tutored students in computer science (through UConn’s BRIDGE Program), and led middle-school students through exploratory engineering activities (Vergano’s Institute Pre-Engineering Enrichment Program).

In 2020, Polanco studied abroad at London South Bank University, where she explored barriers in learning and creative entrepreneurship.  She graduated with the accolades of McNair Scholar, Louis Stokes Minority Alliance Scholar, and Google CSR Researcher.  Polanco will receive her certification in academic coaching from the International Coaching Federation this spring. She plans to offer her services to help guide students in attaining their academic goals using art and science, beginning summer of 2024.

Additionally, Polanco is the proud member of a UConn family, which includes her father, William Polanco (B.S, Business Administration, 2002) and mother, Marsha Polanco (B.A, Human Development and Family Studies, 2002).
